"Give them a chance to do so." Teachers , go for it ! You are Legion !

So Chris , what you are saying is that I should just shut the hell up ?

Nope. Didn't intend that as I was typing it and re-reading it don't see where that was inferred either.

Everybody take a deep breath and hold it. lets figure out a solution that is workable for everyone involved. The bunch of us are pretty smart, I am positive we can come up with something everybody can live with.

So Chris , what you are saying is that I should just shut the hell up ? They have every opportunity to express themselves and I was under the impression that I had an opportunity to respond. One thing I can assure them is that once the truth of what is actually going on in the schools get's out in the open (where it should be to begin with ) I will be the first to defend them for their courage and fortitude. Always have and always will. Until then though I will continue to do just what I have been doing all my life. State my opinions ! And btw , I am about as PUBLIC as you can get !

It's not about identity, it's about having a place where a teacher who maybe WANTS to make changes and is looking for help from the public to reach out. Give them a chance to do so.

Sorry for having opinions Tony. I put my thoughts out there in the open and if anyone wishes to call me out on them they should feel free to do so. My identity is about as clear as it can be and I am in contact with several Teachers and Board members often. Never once have I been accused of twistingh anything or taking words out of context. I simply say what I think and point out what I have gotten from my sources of information. I have no idea who these folks on ielmira are . But a "One way attack" is hard to define when I have been open and honest about my identity. All I can really conclude from this conversation is that someone is pissed that the issues that started this thread have gotten too much public sun-light. And truthfully, I'm not going anywhere. In a few years I will have a family member entering they educational system. Don't know if it will be Public or Private just yet or where. And I will truly remember what has transpired in the realm of the Professionals who are so afraid of the people and the system they work for that they seem to be trembling and shaking that they will be revealed as caring and concerned individuals. What a fucking shame that is. We are the most expensive State in the Union in the per student cost for an education. And the result of this ?

The facts, as laid out by the New York Times are these: less than half the students in the state are leaving high school prepared for college and well paying careers. Only 23 percent of students in New York City graduate ready for college or careers in 2009. It’s small consolation that the city is doing better than Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester and Yonkers. In those cities less than 17 percent left high school ready for college and career.

Guess I should just lay down and forget about it. Or am I just mis-stating the facts and trying to cause trouble for the poor teachers who cannot do their jobs and are still drawing a paycheck ..... Sad commentary for a profession that has our children for 8 hours a day.

Teachers, report on what is really going on, do it anonymously, I will guarantee your anonymity here, parents and concerned individuals, takes these reports and use them against the current administrators. They will initially ignore you, then they will actively come against you and eventually, if we stick to it, they will bend to your will.

Anonymity is not enough Bill. Personal attacks hurt, even if they are anonymous. Having your words twisted and taken out of context does more harm than good. One way attacks serve no good, not when two way conversations are in needed. From what I am seeing, iElmira is not a safe environment for teachers to step forward. I really appreciate edugirl for her efforts, she goes above the call of duty.I've said enough on this topic, probably too much. Have fun all.

Didn't know I was "throwing darts" Tony. Just stating my opinions on what is happening the the Elmira School system. Either way I'll keep voting no on the budget's. And I'll go stand in the corner for a time-out . And here I thought I was actually drawing those teachers into an intelligent conversation where they don't have to worry about their jobs. Go figure. IMHO !

Good for you Herb, sounds like you now have more time to throw darts at teachers who try to have a conversation on here.

"Why don't they urge their union to stand up to their administrator's and get that changed so everyone in the prison system is safer? "We did just that Tony. It's called "NYSCOPBA" New York State Correction Officers Police Benevolent Association. And I'm a proud , card carrying member of the Retiree's Chapter. 8-)
