Mornin' all.My two cents about vets.We had an excellent vet up here, Dr. Sue F(unpronounceable), but like all of us, she aged and decided to retire. Sold out to a Big City Vet out of Raa-cha-cha and now they will overlook obvious problems to push their cat teeth cleaning service at $150 per, done yearly. I did some checking on the new head vet and he got his DVM from an animal dental school in Italy!, like on the Mediterranean! Needless to say, I no longer go to that vet.

Good morning! Hey, I got to sleep in today! :coffee:When I made my move to Chemung County I kept my vet in Owego. I figured that Owego wasn't that far away and I was happy with the service and care provided at Day Hollow Animal Hospital. When I found out that the vets in this area rotated their on call status during off hours I really didn't like the idea of that. I want the doc that is treating my dog / my cat to be familiar with her / him and have at hand their medical history. DHAH has been there for me 24/9/365 for many years. I have no plans of changing vets for the remainder of the time that I am in this region.

It is a great morning for me. Was touch and go whether my grandkids would be coming. My granddaughter(the one with JRA) was running a fever of 103 and they could only give her Tylenol because she is on Mobic for the JRA and as soon as it wears off the temp comes back. They think it was viral. But she is better this morning so they will be coming later today. So all is well in my little corner of Big Flats. Having a big family dinner on Saturday night with turkey and all the trimmings. I love family gatherings. :rimshot: I am doing the happy dance too, but mine has a little limp in it.

Haven't heard about my Kitteh yet, I assume I will hear around 9:30.I don't know about everybody else, but I am really, really happy it is Friday, though, for the life of me, I could not sat why, as everyday for me is like a Saturday, but I got this "It's Friday" feeling on my shoulders. :rimshot: Yesterday I did a big burn, now, I am way out int he middle of no where, my neighbors are all like family and yet I still had a police car respond to find out what the deal was. I appreciated that he actually made the run out, but he wanted to write out a citation for open burning, which is now against the law. LOL. I told him I wasn't just burning cardboard boxes and pieces of old furniture, I was following a religious principle and it was a part of my obligations to my gods. So he asks me which religion I belonged to, and I said I could not tell him as that was against my religion, he gave me one of those side looking googly eyes, but put his citation book away. LOL.I invited him to stay for the ritual sacrifice but he declined. Nice guy overall.

I think it's something universal. I've got the same feeling today, and . . . every day is like a Saturday for me , too. That's one way that I describe retirement: Sunday followed by 6 Saturdays.Gotta go enjoy the pseudo-Saturday!

bf, I'm glad to hear that things are looking so rosy for you....Enjoy the family....But, keep your doors locked during dinner. After putting out that kind of announcement of a big (and I'm sure GOOD) dinner, you never know who might just show up at your door.... :rimshot: km, glad to hear about the extra sleep.....But, hey man, when you're gonna do things like that, you should warn us.....I spent the last few hours digging a hole in the back yard to prepare for the end....Now, I have go back out & fill it in. And, worst of all, I have to explain it all to my family. They already think I'm wacky enough!! Good luck with Ms. Kitteh, Bill. I'll bet she'll be glad to see you!!

The Kitteh is home and safe, and has to wear that silly plastic cone around her head, and she is pissed. But happy at the same time.I am going to spend a little while laying on the bed, giving her some much needed lovin...

It is indeed a good morning. My grandkids are here, just had pancakes, eggs and bacon and all is good. Now for my shower and I'm good to go.

Excellent way to start the day! My day started by driving my daughter over to Cheerleading practice, then my son has a track meet up in Cortland.I want to get to a new book (MY bedside table has a stack a couple of feet high with reading material), but don't know if I will have the time.Gonna try to use the self cleaning mode on my oven today, never used it before and I am thinking it might be a bit of an adventure.

Let me know if that bothers your eyes.....That usually makes my eyes burn if I'm around home at times like that. Same goes when the wife uses the pizza stone in the oven.....

Good morning!!! and what a sweet morning it is with having my feet back on good ol' US soil. 150mph head winds turned a 16 hour flight into a 17.5 hour flight, and made me miss my connection home. But, that is OK, I'll still get home tonight in time for a home cooked dinner. I hope BF doesn't mind me crashing her party since my family will probably want to go out to eat. LOLAs far as vets, we gave up on Broadway Animal Hospital 30 years ago. We took a cat to them in a box with rags that were soaked in all sorts of fluids from her infection. After treatment they gave her back to us in the same box with the same rags. ewww. For a while, we could not find a vet between Elmira and Corning which made us happy and feel secure about our pet's health being their first priority. We stumbled on a doctor by accident about 12 years ago who we now use exclusively. Our 6 month old lab managed to cut herself while I was shovelling about 12" of new fallen snow, leaving quite the trail of blood. After going through the yellow pages trying to find someone open I headed off to a vet on Lake Street. I missed the one I called and by mistake pulled into Chemung Valley Veterinary. They were surprised to see me, but Doctor Cutler who had just bought the place from the vet who retired took my pup in. They have been awesome to us ever since. The doc still talks about that snowy morning. He also shed a tear as he advised it was time to say goodbye to my first lab suffering from cancer. His business has grown since then, adding a couple of vet techs and another vet so we don't always get to see Dr. Cutler, but it is still a clean caring place staffed by a great group that I would recommend to anyone.

(I am assuming you are coming in from Osaka?)

Nope, left Joburg and I am now sitting in Atlanta. Good to get home, the weather on the eastern cape of South Africa was so boring, sunny and warm every single day. :willynilly:Do we have any snow left up there?

Your welcome to come crash at my place, can't guarantee the quality of the food, but can guarantee the quantity!

If I go anywhere but home, I'll probably be hitting you up for an extended stay in the guest house since my stuff would be on the curb. Thanks for the offer though!!!
