Here's some footage from Disneyland's opening:

From a visit a few days after the big opening, this footage was taken on 8mm:

Yeah, I thought of you when I stumbled on these. The first video is an hour and a half long, so chew slowly.

I missed the opening by 3 years. Didn't get there until the Fall of 1958.
Ya gotta be a little insane to keep your sanity!

First time I went, I think was late 90's. Once the kids got old enough to actually enjoy it.

Disneyland, or Disney World? I don't know any locals who have been to Pasadena when the new and improved version is so much closer. I have not been to Disneyland since the early 60's. How is it now compared to Disney World?

Drat, I was hoping to hear a fairly modern comparison. Disneyland was really special when I was a kid, loved seeing Tinkerbell flying to her castle at the end of the night.

just think of all the millions of happy people that have been there. Been to Disney World in Fl many times, never to Disneyland. What an inventive and fabulous mind Walt Disney had and to my enjoyment he was a dedicated rail buff.

Uncle Walt was a genius. I can't wait to finish his biography.

And what part did government play in building Disneyland, Mr. President?
