Have a small dilemma.I just found out i have a guest coming to visit that needs air conditioning. What i need is a unit about 10,000 to 20,000 btu's that i can rent for 4 days.I do not use air so it is a drain on my wallet to go buy one to use for 4 days then never use again. So if anyone has one sitting collecting dust and would like to make some bucks let me know.It also has to be 110 cause i do not have a 220 outlet. If the price is reasonable i will buy it.Does not have to be new or good looking just has to work.
Thanks for reading you can reach me at 846-8420

As a cheap alternative, how about a dehumidifier? I would require emptying every day, but may be less expensive and more available. I keep one running in my basement and it keeps things cool and dry. The only problem in a living space would be some noise.

We don't do air conditioners, just ceiling fans Felixthecat, otherwise I would give you one.

The relative i have visiting is Extremly obese that's why it has to be an air conditioner but if i do not find one i will probably need a dehumidifier for the sweat.
shame on me.not a big fan of this relative.I have fans and air in the kids rooms but this person will be staying on the ground floor of course the only place i don't have cooling.Nothing like a last minute visit from the wifes side. They alway bring a hunger and a thirst and nothing else.

I am right up the road, so if you do need help, do not be shy about giving a yell. In the mean time I will keep my eye out for a AC unit. Someone must have on e kicking around.

dont forget to wrap furniture to protect from sweat, besides the discomfort may shorten the visit

Felix, what are your wife's feelings about this relative coming to visit? Does she share your feelings of 'not being a favorite?' If so, perhaps you could both suggest a nice but affordable, air conditioned hotel room where he/she would be more comfortable for sleeping? If by chance your wife adores this relative and a hotel room is out of the question, can you offer one of the kids' rooms and have your children bunk up together for the visit? This might be less intrusive to your family but honoring your spouse while making your guest comfortable.
In any event, I do hope for your sake this is a short visit!
Best to you!

You guys are the best.Bill once again thanks for looking out.Anne i might bark but i don't bite.I will do whatever to make them comfortable and have a good time, after all if my wife can put up with my family and friends after all these years and still smile this is the least i can do.Just bugged me they never give fair warning just show up.But it's family so you do what you can.
On my way to wally world so if anyone does come up with one please call before i melt the plastic 846-8420
And folks i just got a really nice compound mitre saw that i will never use so if anyone is doing any work and needs one i would be more than willing to drop off for as long as you need it.

You're a good man Felix. Getting an air conditioner to keep in your main living area is probably a good thing; you can enjoy this area in comfort after your guest leaves.
Hope the visit goes great, even better than expected and turns out to be a wonderful family time for you all!

OMG!!!! this has been the visit from hell.We always welcome family and friends when they want to visit or just happen to be in the area. This guest[family] Deceided at the last minute to tell us and then showed up with 4 other family members she just forgot to tell us were coming with her.Well we scrambled and made accomodations[son went camping 3 weeks early]Rooms were re arranged,Blow up mattresses bought with pillows and linens and we figured all would turn out ok.Boy were we wrong! When we have guests we always try to show them all the great places and things to do up here. What we didn't plan on was that we would be not only showing them the places but everyday just as we were getting ready to leave for a day of fun and adventure the kids mom decides she doesn't want to go because it's too hot,too far,too sunny, too whatever.Well her kids want to go and are at the car waiting so we go.Now we have raised kids of our own and now that they are grown we figured we are done with the parenting job.No not this week we get to not only entertain her kids but change and feed the smallest[2yr] chase after the 10 yr old that has never known the word no or stay close by.So the day instead of being fun has now turned into a babysitting service for kids who have never had any guidance or bounderies.
I bite my tongue these are my wifes relatives and i know after all these years which battles are worth fighting. This is all happening while another friend has stopped by with his sons for a couple days[he let us know way in advance and he took care of his kids].Well they were leaving Monday but because as she said"The kids are having a blast! she decieded to stay until today! I hope that plan sticks,if not peace will be gone in this household. My wife looked at me this morning and with just her eyes i could see how much she has appreciated my patience my patience is long gone..
After this nightmare from now on when guests show up unannouced it's right to the Holiday Inn! and after dropping them off my wife can drop me at the airport cause all of a sudden i will be needed far from home.

Your patience is that of Job, I feel your pain, I truly do. You need to let the Mom have her kids, find other things to do that need to be done, away. Spend lots of time in Home Depot or Lowes, but really go see some movies. Smile, nod your head alot, remember guys have survived torture for months on end. This too will pass.
