I was feeling languid and cranky last night, it seemed that everything was too much trouble and it was making me prickly. I lay on the grass for an hour or so, watching the clouds roll by, it was maybe 7:30 or so. I finally worked up the energy to go grab something to eat, Evergreen express, I couldn't figure out what I wanted. So I asked the very nice guy behind the counter to make a bunch of stuff. He did.

I have this huge bag of food in the car (And an orange soda, haven't had an orange soda in ages!), and I was worried I would be full by the time I reached the bottom. So I drove around not eating. I wound up down by walmart and I had a great idea, so I went in and bought a trashcan with a lid, one of those round ones. I left the trashcan in the parking lot, but kept the lid. I opened all of the little white boxes up and dumped them on to the trash lid. Then I was able to sit in my car, with my orange soda, picking a little from this pile and a little from that one. Not quite an optimal solution, but it worked.

Today, I am not feeling as lazy, I have to replace the mower blades, and take down a tree, maybe finish clearing the back path down to the gorge way in the back of my property. I'll have to see how it goes.

LOL ,after getting at it the last 2 days in the garden ,I'm feeling lazy today . Had big plans for today but I'm throwing them under the bus . Grass must be mowed and garden watered ,anything else will be a bonus .

I have to work today..... Using the word "work" rather loosely, of course.

I think you two fellows will both work harder than I.

Today would have been my Mom's 88th birthday. The first time in my life she's not here for me to wish her a Happy Birthday. Kinda weird.... Just like Mother's Day a few weeks ago. Something many of us go through.......

Our son is leading his usual charmed life.... He was vacationing in the south and got out just in time to miss the hurricane excitement. Timing is everything......

Happy memorial Day (or at least the celebration of it - real day is Wednesday - not even on my calendar as such only the observed day, today - :fury: ). here's another song I found that is appropriate for the day...

Good Morning, iElmira!

Have to keep this short and get out there to dig in the dirt; Sherry has some plants I promised to help her with. As long as I don't do the planting, they will probably grow quite well.

Man is it hot enough for ya?

Spent Saturday weeding the flower beds, and yesterday taking care of the berries. Since there will be very little large fruit this year, it feels good to see so much small fruit coming in. The blueberries are going to bear like crazy, raspberries are coming in really well, and the currants aren't looking to bad either. The new black currant I put in last year has some berries this year. Diversity, that is the key I guess.

Almost have the vegetable garden ready for planting. One bed weeded, two more to go. Completed one new raised bed, two more of those to go. Stuck a couple of tomatoes into the new bed just to say I have started planting.

It looks like I'm about done though, I'm melting out there. I have to run the chain saw at my parents this afternoon on some branches I took down last week. That shouldn't be too hard or hot.

Got some digging done and added some planting soil stuff that Sherry bought a few bags of, and now it is raining hard (0.04" so far); planning to get back out there after it stops to continue that project. Mowing will wait until much later, like end of the week.

I got up earlier than I intended and mowed the field across the road. Also moved the month old pullets back over here with the pigeons til they're big enough to go in with the hens. They were getting out of the brooder and one took off last night into the brush for parts unknown. I didnt feel like beating brush to still not catch her so said screw it and called it evolution.

Compund8 was nice enough to til the garden bed up for Abby, so I guess we will have a garden after all. As soon as we plant it that is. May take the boys and go get some stuff in a few minutes here and try to get some in before it gets too much hotter.

The damn flies are starting to bite again, and will continue to do for the next month, driving me nuts while trying do anything. So if you drive by and see my flailing Im not having a seizure, just swatting those damn bloodsuckers.

Been mowing and ran out of gas just before I finished . Took a break to get gas and let the mower cool down .
Yep ,Tony ,it's hot ! Glad I got all the hard stuff done yesterday ! You are right ,no large fruit but the Blueberries are loaded ! planted nothing but seed this weekend ,too damn hot to transplant anything . Been there ,done that ,cooler weather in a couple of days and that's when things go into the ground . Less shock that way .
Going to take down the pole bean trellis's and add two more beds ,probably next weekend or the one after and plant bush beans in them this year . Next year rebuild the trellis . Planned on it this year but time is running short now
As far as the big fruit go ,I was planning on buying a crusher and a cider press ,glad I didn't .

Morning all! Went to the parade this morning, now doing some work inside and about to brave the heat to put some more plants in the garden. I've gotta get the tomatoes in the topsy turvy. I had no luck with that thing last year, hopefully this year will be better. Hubs is installing an air conditioner (or two) today. Sleeping has been miserable!

Well, I'm home from work.... Judging from the activity at the hospital, I'm thinking that my boss messed up in scheduling me to work on a holiday. There was absolutely NOTHING to do!! And, I kind of wonder if they won't have to pay me holiday pay for my (lack of) efforts. That will be truly ironic.... Scheduling is something that he is just not very good at!!!

ETA: Yep, just checked the employee manual and they will have to pay me time & a half.... Wait til my boss discovers that one......

Whew, I clobbered trees today, I pruned back at least 20 trees, and took down 6 trees, and disassembled them. A friend of my FIL's wanted the wood so I was happy to help him load up his pickup truck, he made a number of trips.

Got the mule stuck on a serious descent way in the back, maybe a half mile or so, had a chainsaw with me, which meant I was able to cut down a small tree (maybe 7 inches round) and top it off, then use it as a lever to lift the mule off of the very large rock it was hung up on. The trick was to lift the mule by way of the lever, and then securing the end of the lever to another tree, while I scuttled under the mule to dislodge the rock. Very sweaty work. But I opened up 90% of the trail down to the gorge, so I am counting it as all good. I did tear off a fender though, which sucks. I think I have had this mule for going on 10 years now, and it has been a tank. I was thinking of fabricating a new fender out of metal, but the plastic one has a lot of give, and doesn't damage easy. Maybe I will just buy a new one, they must still be sold.

At the deepest point it is maybe 60 feet deep. Very beautiful area, especially after a storm, the water runs fast.

I just checked on Google earth and it is really hard to see, just a faint outline, and doesn't show the sides very well.

Bing has much better maps.
