No, that was St. Caz which is in June.
I am under the understanding that St Cas will not be having a festival this year- I think the Elmira churches are condensing all of the festivals into one singular event. Dan Kamas and hs family had run St Cas for years and, as many churches are, are struggling to find volunteers to pull these events off. St Mary Our Mother stopped their annual festival after 2010. It's sad, as these events provide community, fellowship and support for the Church. The Ukie fest is a great time, but get there early if you want to eat! Personally I like the holupci better than the pierogies.

Any word on the sate and times of this year's festival at St. Nicholas?
I think it usually starts by 11 or 12- but lines start forming mid morning for people to get food.

By the way, there is one at Binghamton (Castle Creek) this weekend... maybe worth a run down I-81 to check it out.

Ukrainian fest
features food,
culture and dancing
CASTLE CREEK -- The Greeks and Italians
have had their festivals. Now, it's time for
Ukrainians.
The annual Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic
Church's festival will bring plenty of Slavic
food, culture and dancing to its picnic
grounds on Brooks Road this weekend.
Slated to run from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday
and Sunday, the festival will feature
traditional Ukrainian dancing by children at
4 p.m. each day.
"A lot of people like to know when the
dancing begins," said Father Teodor
Czabala Jr., noting the food lines are busy
before and after the performances.
Saturday will feature music by DJ Joe, a
parishioner of the church.
"He'll do some Ukrainian music, some
polkas," Czabala said.
From 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, the music of
Rooster and the Roadhouse Horns will echo
through the picnic grounds.
Along with performances will be plenty of
food including pyrohy, halupki, and
kielbasa. Among the beverages that will be
served: a lager from the Lvivske brewery,
founded in Ukraine in 1715.
Information about the country and the
church will be on-hand, as well as vendors
specializing in Ukrainian goods including
embroidery, wood-carved items, ceramics
and pysanky -- Ukrainian Easter eggs.
The festival -- held for more than 60 years
-- usually draws about 2,000 visitors,
Czabala said.
"It's something for people to get away from
the usual things they do," he said. "We have
people that want to leave the city. It's a
place where you can park you car, there's
trees and grass."
