It seems I've neglected Big Flats, excepting Mountain House and a few Canals and Railroad posts. So I thought I'd open this up with something cool: Two Minier Brothers invoices from 1900. These came to me through ebay by way of Gretna, Louisiana. Amazing how this stuff works it's way around the country in 110 years, isn't it?The first invoice is from J. Richardson & Co. for a dozen pairs of shoes, Dated October 8, 1900. Richardson made a fortune in shoes and the building had the semi-official "Town Clock". It was located on the tracks where Centertown now stands. I always think of the railroad as spanning continents, but this was shipped from Elmira to Big Flats over the Erie. The second invoice is from Cleveland and Post Merchants, Wholesale Fruits and Product at 316-318 Carroll Street. That puts it near the corner of Lake, but I'm not sure of the exact side of the street. Google Earth puts me on the East side of the Lake St intersection, so maybe it stood where the Bank is now. At any rate, I can't see what they paid $48.79 for, because I can't read the scrawl. Maybe Mahatma can help, as the resident scrawled writing expert. This one is dated September 29, 1900.Hat's off to Minier Bros, who by this measure have been in business for at least 110 years.
But you knew that already, didn't you?

Nice map mpc! I notice Mountain House made the map, which certainly dates it back to civil war days.

Main Street looking West. Tracks of Elmira, Corning and Waverly Railway can be seen in the middle of the road.

Looks like corner of Canal and Main.  The building on right is a parking lot now and the one next to it is the furniture place(the old Drew's).    Left side is an apartment house and used to have a Dr. office in it.
