Why do people care so much what others do with their own lives? I will never understand that one. I don't see how what I do should matter to others. I've never spent my life worrying about people judging, everyone does it. Doesn't make shit true. I should be able to do whatever I want in life as long as i'm playing by the "rules", right?

Depends who the "others" are. If I see a family member or friend making what I believe to be a destructive decision, I'll say something.

"To thine own self be true." certainly does apply a lot in life. But something to remember is people are watching, people are listening, and they will remember later how you conduct yourself now. How you are perceived by others is often directly related to how successful you are at something. Truly, no man is an island.
