this thread is crazy. I really hope this person is not realated to Kenny Brooks that used to be one of our assemblymen in elmira, and a pastor at the love church. Kenny is a very good person. And Kenny lives about 2 blocks from where this happened. on a seperate thought, if (like usual) no one comes foreward with any info, that right there is a sign that the community is scared of the gang activity, and in their reality (perception dictates reality) the dealers are more in control that the police. Like a few people that posted before, just because they are projects does not equate low morals. most people there are good hard working people that in todays society structure are exactly where the ones in charge want them. (gotta work your full time minimum wage job to or they will cut you off the benifites that your minimum wage job doesnt provide, or the housing assitance, again cause your full time job at wallmart wont pay the bills.)

I'm still confused. If a hood rat deserves death for their choices, where is the line of seperation for the people the hood rat interacts with?

A hood rat lives the life of a hood rat, it involves lawless behavior and often violent confrontation. Sometimes they are doing it to others, sometimes it gets done to them. I don't know if 'deserves' comes into play, but 'expected' surely does.

I don't accept the idea that the hood rat culture is devoid of decent human beings. The hood rat stereotype is justified, but just like every other steroetype, it is not an absolute.
Is it wrong for a decent hood rat to not want to cooperate or get involved with a main stream society that so readily and willingly displays hate for who they are?

My opinion of a hood rat is somebody who lives in a more poverty stricken area that generally takes advantage of those who are trying to work hard and get thru life and are looking for a way to not have to think about how hard their lives are by selling them drugs (I don't include weed here even tho it is illegal). They also tend to try to intimidate those who might not agree with their methods thru threats of physical violence. That in my definition is a hood rat. No need to mention the color of somebody's face when they are knowingly taking advantage of others and scaring people to keep them quiet.
