Elmira man found with gun remains in jail

A judge said evidence Terrance Jackson, 19, had a dangerous, loaded handgun justifies keeping him in jail on $10,000 bail.

I am pretty sure that the police officers who arrested Mr. Jackson were also in possesion of ‘Dangerous, loaded Handguns’ also.  Why the double standard?

Public asked for budget input

People in Elmira will have the chance next week to share their input on the city’s proposed 2008 budget.  Here is my input guys, open the budget to a random page, tear out the page, repeat 100 times (200 if you want to show you are serious).  Take the torn out pages, strike those items from the budget
, if any of the items run to multiple pages, please go back and tear out those remaining page.  Take the political heat necessary to excise those torn out pages from the budget, citizens then get to bask in the glow of not having a deficit, and their taxes going down by 50 to 75%.

Do you have a better idea?

GEORGE W. BUSH, CLIMATE-CHANGE HERO:

The Kyoto treaty was agreed upon in late 1997 and countries started signing and ratifying it in 1998. A list of countries and their carbon dioxide emissions due to consumption of fossil fuels is available from the U.S. government. If we look at that data and compare 2004 (latest year for which data is available) to 1997 (last year before the Kyoto treaty was signed), we find the following.

* Emissions worldwide increased 18.0%.
* Emissions from countries that signed the treaty increased 21.1%.
* Emissions from non-signers increased 10.0%.
* Emissions from the U.S. increased 6.6%.

In fact, emissions from the U.S. grew slower than those of over 75% of the countries that signed Kyoto.

They told me that if George W. Bush were elected, the United States would lag behind the rest of the world on greenhouse gases And they were right!

Discrimination Lawsuit in Ithaca

Ithaca mother says the School District neglected her daughter.  Ahh, I see, Little Epiphany’s feelings were being hurt, which could lead to a loss of self esteem.     Totally grounds for suing the school administration.

Schumer wants tougher steroid law

Less than a week after the Mitchell Report on steroids in baseball is released, New York Senator Charles Schumer is pushing for tougher laws.

Yeah, that will stop the problem, slap a few more laws on it.  Why do these idiots spend their time on trivial things, whcih have no bearing on anyones lives?  Oh, wait, proceed.

SUBURBAN SEX PARTIES DRAW COMPLAINTS: Two thoughts. (1) If my neighbors were bringing in over 100 people for canasta on a weekly basis I’d probably mind the traffic and noise; and (2) Who says middle America is stodgy?

No Raise for Union Workers

Union workers say they were promised a wage increase. Dresser Rand says they want to give them one, but say they can’t.

Sure, walk out, publiclly wish for the company to go under, promise retaliation towards anyone who did decide to support the company, then, expect a raise?  LOL, no really.
