Elmira Police and School Officials are looking for advice from other school districts to make your child’s school safer. How about letting parents carry in the schools, or event he novel idea of allowing the students to actually defend themselves. Get rid of zero tolerance idiocy.

School Budget

The Elmira School Board did not come up with an answer Wednesday night about whether there would be an increase in next year’s school budget.

These people are pro’s at this, they will be unsure up till the very last minute, then it will truly pain them, but for the good of the chillllldruuuunnnnn, they will unhappily recognize that a tax increase is necessary.  Sure, The holy family school system runs about $5,000 a kid, and the public school is running at about, what, $14,000 a kid, but I am sure the public school is doing oh so much more for the students than Holy Family.  Sigh.  And the really sad part is, people will fall for it.  And guess what, next year, when they do the exact same thing, people will fall for it again.

EFA principal eyes crackdown

The principal at Elmira Free Academy returned to school this week and began working to correct disciplinary problems that bubbled over during his two-week absence.

Mommies little darlings are going to be held responsible (gasp!) for their actions. I sure do hope this is not a trend, or we might actually educate these kids into what life in the real world is like. Then where would we be?

Discrimination Lawsuit in Ithaca

Ithaca mother says the School District neglected her daughter.  Ahh, I see, Little Epiphany’s feelings were being hurt, which could lead to a loss of self esteem.     Totally grounds for suing the school administration.

After a long score of Tommy Hilfiger posts I truly hope this is just a simple misprint or misunderstanding. Marty Harrigan was a fine person and helped many students throughout his life. And Marty was also the Principal of Southside High School in the 70’s. I know folks, people have a right to spend their hard earned money any way they want . But can anyone point out something good about honoring a man who worked on both sides of the river and helped literally thousands of Elmira kids without prejudice of where they lived by offering Scholarships to E.F.A. grads only ? Maybe I read too much into things ( my perogative ) but I’m finding this (no pun intended ) ” One sided giving ” hard to swallow anymore. But reading the article I get a little confused about the way…

Sex Offender Concerns in Chemung County

Right now there are at least 88 registered sex offenders living in the City of Elmira, along with at least 66 registered in the rest of Chemung County.  That’s according to the Chemung County District Attorney’s office.  Walking the streets, watching your children as they go about their day.  How do you feel about that?
