You have that 100%, absolutely correct. I love salsaritas, and I hate to admit it but eat there a couple of times a week.

Honestly, their bathroom could be an open pit in the ground out back and I would not think any less of them.

No need to worry about how great the floor is. You're not eating off of it. As long as the food is great (which it is); that's all that matters.

No one mentions that once released, you think he is not going to feel picked on again?? He will no doubt have a lot of problems back in the real world. I think worse than when he was a kid. Who knows, he might want to feel good again.

The WETM story was horribly incomplete. The new policy would place students who fail two or more classes into required tutoring for five weeks. The student can participate in his or her activity for the first three weeks of that time. If after three weeks, he is passing the classes, behaving and showing up, he can continue participating, but must attend two more weeks of tutoring. If he or she is not passing, he will be pulled from the activity. Notice I say activity, not sport. This policy would apply to band, clubs, sports - all extracurriculars. Not sure if this affects your opinion, but it is always good to have all the information.

The point is that I want to ensure that my children DO grow up before I worry about what they do and do not fear. Call me crazy (many have), but I think it's perfectly natural to fear an individual with a gun, particularly an individual who knows he is wanted by the police and may be desperate. But then again, I'm terrified of spiders and open water.

I'm going to assume you were joking with the winnowing comment. If you aren't, please just let me believe you are.

Actually, there is too much safety when it comes to our children.

Take chemistry sets, in the 60's it held real experiments, we were turning out chemists and people interested in chemistry, fast forward to today, where the only chemistry sets you can buy are bubble gum making sets or ones that allow your budding scientist to make slime.

That's too much safety.

The school administration realizing that a drug deal gone bad in a known area of drugs, probably did not pose a dnager to any students, but yet they still insisted on 'the safe course', it is just silliness. Nothing less.

Our children are being raised to fear everything, and the things they don;t fear, are filled with horrors just waiting to cause them fear. That's not the kind of world I want my children to grow up in, is it the kind of world you want yours to grow up in?

Also, don't you see a value in nature winnowing out some people every now and then? If for no other reason than as examples to our children of what not to do?

School, in actuality, was not shut down. Dismissal was at the regular time. The only change was asking parents to pick up their walkers, many of whom live at Hathorn Court. As a parent, I appreciate the measure. There is no such thing as too safe when it comes to my children.

Not declaring war on you, Bill. You amuse me, you aggravate me - both keep me coming back for more. But on this, you pushed my "mommy" button. That button overrides all others in my system.

I am hardly happy. So, no.

At any one time, there are murders, child molesters, dog killers, tax evaders and every kind of scumbag walking among us, shutting down the school over a drug deal gone bad, well, that doesn't make me happy, no.

The world is not a safe place, we can't wrap our children in kevlar cotton, we can use some common sense to realize that this was not a random shooting and we can get on with life.

Or do you think we should shut the school district down until the shooter is found, I mean, if it was worthwhile to shut the school down today, why not on Monday, and Tuesday and so on?

Or is it that memories are fleeting, and by that time, people will have forgotten the fear, and then it iwll be ok to open them up again?

LOL.
