I should make up a “mundane info” tag. Ouch, that one is going to leave a mark.

The person who sent it must think you are a very special person, Bill, and possibly doesn’t wish to be identified unless, of course, it is perhaps a family member or someone like that.

Since you’ve said in the past that you are, as am I, a Capricorn, the card must be yours.

Some other questions: Were you surprised to get the card? Is it a special card? Did you enjoy getting the card? Are you planning on doing something special on your birthday? Will help arrive before poor, pitiful Pauline is run over by the train?

So many questions, so little time. Inquiring minds need to KNOW!

Guess what I bought for me for my birthday? A new desktop computer. Now I can get back all the programs I had on my old Win 98 machine for which there was no support. Different type of mouse, different keyboard, whole new different set of problems! W0W! Every day, A new SURPRISE!

Nice thing about birthdays: The more you have, the longer you live!

(happy birthday, you’re now on the road to becoming seriously geezerfied!)

Ha! It is my birthday (December 23rd). So the two of you got that part right. Though I am sad to say, it is not from my children. (So your out Leftbank)

Nina is closest to being correct, as it is a person who does not want to be recognized, and as such, I will not publiclly acknowledge them, but the person guessing correctly will still win the invite.

There is a funny story that goes with the card, at least I got a real chuckle out of it. The card was bulky, it had a definite feel to it, I could feel a device on the inside, before opening it. There was no return address on the envelope and there was a faint smudge of oil on it, I presume now from one of the postal machines. Having access to a fluoroscope kind of machine I gave it a quick check over and saw that there was circuitry inside. Being the cautious dude that i am, I donned heavy leather gloves, and eye protection and carefully slit the envelope open with a scalpel (Along the right hand seam). On withdrawing the card, I nearly had an accident in my pants, because it started singing to me.

But, to answer Ninas questions, I was very surprised to get the card, I hardly ever tell people when my birthday is, it was a very astute person who picked it up and remembered it. It was very special, not only was it unexpected and appreciated, it was unique to me, I had never seen an actual card that made noise before (I plan on getting back under my rock….soon). The only special thing I am doing on my birthday is hosting my sister, her husband and my niece. They are coming up for Christmas and are planning on hanging out for a week or so to take in the wonders that are Elmira.

And finally, help always arrives for Pauline, it’s just the way the scripts are written.

I did some food shopping today (Bought an amazing piece of meat at Sam’s, a 12 pound pork loin, I am floored that it was only $19.00 - I have a recipe for it that centers on roasting it with fennel and pears. My sister, a true gourmand ought to be impressed (Though she woudl never deign to act like it).

I also bumped into one of the regulars here, while in Consumer Square. She looked her usual, buffed, manicured, impeccable self. Seems that one does not get flustered by the holidays.

I’ve been told that my next birthday, I’ll have Beaky Buzzards on the front porch. I think it’s the family’s way to tell me I’m getting old. (what comedians I have in my home, huh?)

    Wach, are we married?

Oh, wait, your husbands birthday is tomorrow.

Nope, Billy and I were looking for Fennel and Pears for my Christmas pork loin roast. Wish your hubby a happy one from a fellow birthday’er.

got a HP Pavilion with a 19 inch flat screen for the desk. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron with a 17 inch screen.

The keyboard of each still gives me a problem. Way more sensitive than the old keyboard which causes a lot of errors in typing.

The old desktop was working fine but all of the programs that I was accustomed to using, such as the PSP and the ACDSee weren’t available for a ‘98 machine. I lost the load disk for the HP500 print/scan/fax machine and the new drivers available for download online weren’t available anymore for a ‘98. Even my ripper wasn’t available nor was the Splinter Creek Jukebox which I used to listen to wavs.

That’s why I decided to start all over new. As soon as I get the pics and wavs transferred over to this HP I think I’ll give the old ‘98 to the SPCA/Chemung Humane Society. The monitor is still excellent and so is the machine so they can always use another computer out there. I couldn’t even get Firefox for ‘98 and I’m thinking that is what was the problem to start out with. I thought it was Zone Alarm that caused the problem but now that I think about it, Firefox updated itself and that’s when the problems began. Hind sight is 20/20 you know! I can’t bear to think of the money I could have saved myself had I thought of that earlier!
