How about big signs on their doors also, “Sex Offender Inside”? I would prefer branding, but this works for a temporary measure.

State taking measures to ensure sex offenders stay indoors on Halloween

The state is taking special steps this Halloween to make sure sex offenders stay away from trick-or-treaters. “Operation Halloween: Zero Tolerance” orders sex offenders on parole to stay in their homes from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.

This isn’t new this year. I know this “rule” or “law” or whatever is it was in effect last year as well. And, no, I don’t know this little fact because I am a sex offender.

Cool, it really is a shame that they do not also require signs on their homes. Nothing like having little suzy or joey skipping up to the pedophiles house, unaware.

Thats sorta like taking all the risk out of it for the scumbags, isn’t it?

Now, doing this with people who were convicted of a sex crime against a child makes sense. Doing this to a guy who slept with his 16 year old girlfriend when he was 18, or was caught peeing in the bushes at a concert instead of waiting for the hour long bathroom line, not so much.

Notice that they don’t define “sex offender” in any of those articles? It probably means anybody who had to be entered into the registry, in which case there are tons of people who were entered in due to the above examples. Perhaps you should save your ire for people who actually harm children, and not people who don’t want to wet themselves while they wait in the bathroom line.

Nobody else seems to pick up on the fact that such restrictions only apply to offenders ON PAROLE. So, in effect, such draconian measures really amount to a whole lot of nothing with regard to the safety of children. Are you concerned for your children’s safety on Halloween? ACCOMPANY them while they are out, it’s YOUR responsibility as a parent. Anybody that thinks the police or ‘[insert young female child's name here]Law’ are going to keep your children safe without your proactive involvement are foolish.

Brandon, Maybe, maybe not. Criminally stupid is not as bad as a child molester granted. But, someone who is unable to hold their water has other problems children ought not be exposed to, no?

Tia, you got that right, my son and three of his friends went out tonight and I was amazed at the numbers of kids who were wandering around by themselves. Kind of frightening.
