Dresser union to raise ante
PAINTED POST — In newspaper ads, the Dresser-Rand Co. said its union employees earn an average of $20.45 an hour. And they want more money. Thats the way to negotiate! Go from unreasonable to laughable. Can’t someone in authority step in and cut off their welfare benefits, I mean just to teach them a lesson? The more stupid you are, the harder the world will be on you.
Maybe I should send in my resume. Wait, maybe I should join the union first.

Sorta like Forced representation, with taxation.
Let every man negotiate his own deal to the best of his abilities. Let a womans value be determined by her abilities.

Interesting you should say this Bill. When I was expelled from membership in the AFL-CIO and AFSCME International I could not attend Union meetings nor vote in Union Elections. But , lo and behold , I had to continue to pay dues to this CORRUPT and SOCIALIST Organization. They were mandated to represent me ( yeah right ) but I could not participate in any of the Unions policy making and partying ( on my dime I might add ). Now isn’t that a great way to represent the American worker ? But , again , when the Auto Makers started moving South the U.A.W. started their Organizing campaign to represent the MEXICAN WORKERS ! Take a lotta Peso’s to make a dollar and they have the calculators to figure it out I’m sure…… Unions SUCK and they sure aren’t representing the AMERICAN workers who pay them dearly to make sure the foreign workers don’t get screwed somehow….. SUCKERS !!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of the old Remington Rand strike (60’s or 70’s ?), when the workers were convinced that Rand would not shut down the plant and move as threatened. In the end, they did just that and the workers found themselves out on the streets for good. I recall one worker who, after many, many years of service, walked away with a $37 per month pension and wishing he had not stuck by the union …

VNVET,
You’re right about the unions looking out for their own self-interest instead of truly representing the AMERICAN workers. Congratulations for realizing this years ago and taking a stance against it. Sounds like your “common-sense vote wouldn’t have mattered anyway as the agenda was already determined ahead of time …

I feel that I am a strong enough person to fight my own battles. And I am enough of a penny pincher to realize that I sure as hell am not going to pay someone else to fight on my behalf. I am the only person who truly has my best interests at heart.
