Dresser Rand Now Hiring: Permanent Workers

But striking union workers say they’re not worried and they’re confident they’ll be back to work at Dresser Rand.

You know the one, where the black night is stopping the other night from crossing the bridge, a duel ensues, the black night has his limbs cut off one by one. Each time he pronounce it “Tis but a flesh wound”. UNtil he is left laying on the ground, calling to the new departing knight to come back and fight. < sigh >.

After a month-long vacation, Democrats returned to the nation’s capital this week, an army in disarray. They left in August confident that Republicans would go home, get chewed out about the war, and raise the white flag. Instead, the Surge worked and the Democrats are losing it.

S.A. Miller at the Washington Times reported:

Rank-and-file Democrats in Congress are criticizing the party’s leaders for allowing the White House to sap momentum from the antiwar movement during the August recess.

“The White House is taking great advantage of the Democrats not pushing back,” said Rep. Lynn Woolsey, California Democrat and co-founder of the antiwar Out of Iraq Caucus.

“We need bolder steps from the Democrats,” she said. “The people of this country are waiting for some leadership — some bold leadership — from the people that they elected to be the majority of the House and the Senate.”

State official ducks ‘Troopergate’ questions

ALBANY — A Spitzer administration watchdog Thursday insisted to skeptical Republican senators that there was no need for her to compel top Spitzer aides to talk to her investigators who were probing whether the aides had misused the state police to try to harm the governor’s chief political foe.

Gotta love it when the powerful get away with something, it means that if we all work hard, steal, and lie, we too one day might be able to be teflon coated.  I have the feathers, who has the tar, and how do we get by Spitzers private army, uh, protective services to apply it?

No Agreement Yet for Dresser Rand Workers

It was back to the negotiating table Thursday for Dresser Rand officials and Union leaders.  Management has already decided that it can replace those striking workers, the union bosses already know it is going to happen.  It is just a matter of the bosses working out their private deals.  Too bad for the strikers.

Congressman Kuhl Ordered To Appear In Court

Case involves trial of protesters at his office.  I mean, he is rather important, and can’t really spend his time, you know, following the law, or the system of justice.  Isn’t that just for the taxpayers?

Man Arrested for Threatening Keuka College Student

A 25-year-old Cohocton man is in jail for making threats against a Keuka College student, prompting a campus lockdown and a dorm evacuation.

Yeah, sounds like overkill.  But we have to protect the children, uh, adults.
