Hearings held for youths linked to Canton threats

Canton High School’s “gang” was in court on Friday for detention hearings to determine whether they should remain in custody or be released to their parents.

Can’t we also arrest the parents for doing such an abysmal job with their offspring?

We have no business to speak of, retail has disappeared, our tax burden is one of the largest in the country, our local government is corrupt, we have rampant crime on the streets, and a serious cat infestation and by all those things we hold holy, we will have a ‘Special Olympics’! I am getting the warm fuzzies and I have, if even for the briefest moments, forgotten the daily travails of life in the twin tiers!

When it was mentioned to him that Elmira did not have any Special Olympics events, Chris Krantz thought that must be wrong.

Dresser union to raise ante

PAINTED POST — In newspaper ads, the Dresser-Rand Co. said its union employees earn an average of $20.45 an hour.  And they want more money.  Thats the way to negotiate!  Go from unreasonable to laughable.  Can’t someone in authority step in and cut off their welfare benefits, I mean just to teach them a lesson?  The more stupid you are, the harder the world will be on you.

“The service included singing and speeches about tolerance.” Except of course, when it comes to people using words they dislike. Then the gloves come off.

Community Says Goodbye To The Racial Slur. No word yet on using it in conjunction with being cheap or stingey. I guess we weill have to wait for a black leader to make a pronouncement on the matter. (A racial encyclical?) Also no word on the balck community deciding whether or not it is acceptable for black people to use, as opposed to any other races unacceptable use.

Elmira Straw Poll

The Chemung County League of Women Voters conducted thier annual straw poll at the Octagon Fair.

A NUCLEAR RENAISSANCE? “If you’re tracking the nuclear power revival in America, last Tuesday, September 25, was a milestone. For the first time since 1973, a new application for building a reactor was placed before the federal government. ”

It’s greenhouse friendly. And if there’s nothing more important than combating the greenhouse threat, then nuclear power certainly should be undergoing a renaissance.

I favor the Chinese pebble bed reactors personally, but I will go for any nuclear plant we can get.

Miller Settlement

A former Elmira police officer who was shot during a training exercise may get a settlement from the city.

The police blame the use of live ammuniton.  I have about 2,000 hours of firearms training under my belt (I do various pistol, carbine and tactics taining over the  course of a year).  And the one thing that is always constant is that a fireram is always loaded.  Strip the slide off, or pull the cylinder (on a revolver) and that bad boy is still lloaded with the most dangerous baby-killing, cop-vest piercing rounds that are available to modern man.

Somebody goofed, we are going to pay.  Hopefully they spend a tiny bit of the 130k sum on more training.

Ok, so I am trying to get out of my basement dungeon, my wife says it will do me good. (As she thinks I am a tad anti-social). So I go and get myself the latest and greatest Apple Macbook Pro, coolest laptop I have ever seen. It is almost as powerful as my basement machine (Mac Pro). So I am all jazzed, I can do all of my work, well, from anywhere. Visions of hanging in Barnes & Noble and writing, or watching the market are dancing through my head, I have all of the essential software for me loaded up and I am ready to go.

First I hit my favorite McDonalds, the one in Elmira, sometimes I get lucky and see people from iElmira there and that is cool. I get myself breakfast, grab a table with a power outlet and setup…
