THE FACTS:
ALL FELONY ARRESTS
* Prior to John Trice taking office, Chemung County ranked 14th (out of 62 counties in New York State) in convicting defendants arrested for any Felony crime
* Since John Trice took office, Chemung County now ranks 53rd (out of 62) in convicting defendants arrested for any Felony crime.
FELONY DRUG ARRESTS
* For the past 3 years, Chemung County is ranked 62nd (Lowest in New York State) in convicting criminals arrested for Felony Drug Crimes.
* Since 2001, Chemung County has the worst Conviction Rate (57%) in New York State for Felony Drug arrests.
* In 2005, Chemung County only convicted 36% of criminals arrested for Felony Drug crimes.
* Since John Trice took office, dismissals for Felony Drug arrests have tripled.
FELONY GUN ARRESTS
* Before John Trice took office, the Chemung County DA convicted 88% of criminals arrested for Felony Gun Crimes.
* Since 2000, the Chemung County DA only convicted 64% of criminals arrested for Felony Gun Crimes and dismissals for these crimes have tripled.
* Over the past 4 years, Chemung County has convicted only 58% of those arrested for Felony Gun Crimes while 39% of those arrested never were punished for their crime.
SPEEDY TRIAL DISMISSALS
* From June 2006 to May 2007, nearly 40 criminals arrested for a Felony crime had their cases dismissed on speedy trial grounds.
* Since 2001, 182 criminals arrested a Felony crime had their cases dismissed on speedy trial grounds.
* This indicates at least 30 dangerous criminals each year are arrested by police for a major Felony crime, but because the DA’s Office fails to prosecute the cases in a timely manner these defendants:
1) Are never convicted of a crime,
2) Receive no punishment for their crimes,
3) Are released back into the community, and
4) All information regarding their crime is erased from law enforcement databases.
I would hate to see all the hard work of the local police and the Sheriff’s Office go to waste if these arrested criminals were to be arraigned in Chemung County, given the current DA’s regrettable record as outlined above.
Trice really does need to be voted out of the DA’s office. Vote on September 18! Vote for change. Vote for Weeden Wetmore for Chemung County DA!

I’m hoping everyone will read this list and realize they need to vote in the September Primary if possible.
BTW: On Wednesday, September 12 the two Republican candidates for Chemung County DA will face off in a public debate at 7 PM.
Event will be at the Clemons Center.
